A rolltop pack designed to be the one you learn on.

The DuneScape has very few curved seam lines, which makes the piecing straightforward and keeps the whole build predictable at the machine. The construction sequence is the same one used on far more complicated packs, so the skills carry directly forward, but the panels themselves are forgiving.

What you get

Full-size print-at-home pattern pieces and a complete step-by-step sewing guide covering every component from the front pockets to the rolltop closure. Cut list, webbing and cord list, hardware list, and fabric recommendations are all included, so you can order everything before you start.

Pattern pieces are provided in three formats:

• US Letter, tiled for home printing

• A4, tiled for home printing

• Large format, for print shop output

Skill level

Beginner friendly. If you have a couple of stuff sacks behind you, you are ready for this one. No industrial machine required, though heavier fabrics may call for one. We recommend 500D or lighter if you are sewing on a home machine.

A note on materials

The DuneScape works across a wide range of pack fabrics, from 500D and 1000D Cordura to laminates like X-Pac VX21 and Challenge Ultra 200. Lighter fabrics such as Ultragrid, Venom Gridstop, or 200D Robic are recommended for the darted front pockets. Anywhere the pattern calls for stretch, use one with a fairly firm hand. Detailed fabric guidance is included throughout the guide.
